About usStarting its business activities in 1985, the SET group of companies focused especially on the areas of Saudi Arabia, the Far East and the countries of the former Soviet Union.  
 
In the 90`s SET achieved the following milestones:

  • acquisition of a LPG distribution company in Germany
  • many short- and long term pre-export financing facilities have been arranged
  • various barter transactions were successfully executed
  • the first private Kazakh crude oil exploration and production company was founded
  • a substantial stake of the now 11th largest bank in Russia was acquired
  • the first gasoline station and storage terminal in Western Kazakhstan was built
  • a German marketing company for natural gas was acquired

Further key milestones were achieved in this decade:

  • In 2000 establishment of SET`s own shipping company Sea Tanker GmbH – currently co-owning  seven newly german built medium range clean double-hull product tankers
  • incorporation of Select Energy Sp.Z.o.o. in Warsaw (Poland), wholesale distribution of diesel (approx. 100.000 mto/per year)
  • establishment of the Hamburg Tanker GmbH in 2003 which ordered two ice class 1A Aframax tankers each to be built at Daewoo shipyards (Korea)
  • construction and operation of a Condensate / Transmix Refinery in Nevada (USA)
  • completion of a chain of gasoline stations (15) in Western Kazakhstan and sale to a major Kazakh corporation
  • construction of a crude oil rail transhipment terminal including storage and treatment facility in Kazakhstan and subsequent sale to a  larger producer
  • construction and operation of further gasoline stations and storage in Atyrau (Kazakhstan)

In addition, SET has a broad experience in structuring and arranging short- and long term financing facilities with international banks for exploration, production and pre-export financing transactions.
 
Today, SET continues to grow its business by investing in the entire value chain of the energy sector in emerging markets as well as in the market of Europe and the US.
